Australian mortgage origination platform and law firm Lextech has appointed Mark Humphries as Chief Product and Technology Officer, strengthening its technology leadership as it continues to support one-third of lenders across Australia.

Mark brings more than three decades of technology leadership across the fintech and edtech sectors.

He spent more than 25 years at Computershare, joining when it was a small Australian technology start-up and helping drive its transformation into one of the world’s largest financial technology companies, now operating across more than 20 countries.

He most recently served as Chief Product Officer and Head of Engineering at Compass Education, where he led strategy and delivery of its global SaaS platform. He joined Lextech in May this year.

In his new role, Mark will oversee Lextech’s technology vision, strategy and delivery across product, engineering and infrastructure, working closely with the business to deliver key outcomes for the firm.

A key focus will be the evolution of Lextech’s industry-leading platform through intelligence-centred design and an AI-native approach, while augmenting operational capabilities to support the company’s future growth.

Lextech CEO Jason Popkowski said the appointment reflected the firm’s continued investment in technology leadership.

“Mark’s career reflects the calibre of leadership we wanted for this role — he spent over 25 years helping take Computershare from an Australian start-up to one of the world’s great technology export stories, and now brings that scale of experience to Lextech,” Mr Popkowski said.

“His experience leading product, engineering and infrastructure teams at scale makes him well placed to lead the next phase of our platform strategy.”

“Lextech is a leading law firm for mortgage origination and settlement services, supporting one-third of Australian lenders. Mark’s leadership will be central to continuing to deliver the speed, certainty and service our clients rely on.”

Mark said he was looking forward to contributing to Lextech’s growth.

“I’m excited to be part of the Lextech team. Collaborating with exceptional talent to lead a modern platform with the latest technology, and to drive AI-first features and practices that streamline workflows and delight our clients,” Mr Humphries said.

Lextech is a 100% Australian-owned and operated, award-winning law firm combining national legal expertise with purpose-built technology.

The firm is ISO 27001-certified and supports one-third of Australian lenders with national mortgage processing and settlement services.

Mark’s appointment comes as Lextech continues to invest in its technology, product and engineering capabilities, with a focus on delivering a faster, more secure and more intelligent platform for lenders and brokers across Australia.
