Locumate.ai has been identified as one of the top innovations in the medicine and healthcare category in The Australian newspaper Top 100 Innovators list for 2024.

Co-founders Kavita Nadan and Surge Singh were recognised for their innovative SaaS platform which has already save pharmacies in Australia $2 million in agency fees since launching in 2022.

Kavita Nadan created Locumate.ai while sitting at her kitchen table when she was finding it difficult to find locums for her pharmacy in Endeavour Hills. The business then began to take off during Covid lockdowns across Australia and has since filled more than 9,000 shifts.

IN April this year Locumate.ai joined forces with the Californian and American Pharmacists Associations to create a joint venture called HealthShifts with exposure to 80,000 pharmacies across the US. The Indian Pharmacy Association based in California has also joined Health Shifts.

In Australia Locumate.ai is continually growing exposure to the Australian pharmacy industry with Douglas Chemist Group, Prime Pharmacy and Allied Health Locums already signed as clients.

The global on-demand workforce is estimated to reach USD $93 billion by 2029.

CEO and Founder Surge Singh said, “Apart from the push into pharmacy we have started looking at how we can help other verticals including all of Allied Health. Recently we signed up with Allied Health Locums, launching a new white labelled app across podiatry and physiotherapy.”

Mr Singh said Locumate will also launch an AI enabled interactive jobs board creating a smarter way for organisations to source talent.

“Our platform doesn’t aim to compete with the popular job seeker sites. we cater for niche professional services organisations such as pharmacies, allied health services all of which have jobs boards which need to be interactive, quick and simple to use as professionals are strapped for time,” Mr Singh said.

Locumate was also invited to participate in the Australian government Austrade program based in the US called The Landing Pads which helps tech scaleups:

  • make informed decisions about international expansion
  • develop and validate market-entry plans
  • connect with opportunities, customers, partners and funding to grow sales internationally
  • raise brand profile – including at iconic global trade shows.

The program provides tailored advice and in-market experiences. It is delivered digitally and in-market. In-market programs are often timed to coincide with events such as trade shows. Local partners are sometimes used to provide additional expertise.

Mr Singh said, “The opportunities that this programme derived by Austrade provides to startups out of Australia is fantastic.”
