Honeywell (Nasdaq: HON), a global leader in connected buildings, will be the joint facility services provider for the $1.1 billion Frankston Hospital redevelopment, delivering a new facility integrated with the existing hospital, facilitating Peninsula Health’s Model of Care and achieving exemplary built form, technology and sustainability outcomes.

As a member of the Exemplar Health consortium, Honeywell will provide hard facilities management and the installation of building management products including Honeywell Forge enterprise performance management software to help create a more sustainable, efficient and more secure facility, backed by a 25-year service contract.

Honeywell Forge will allow the Frankston Hospital redevelopment to conduct condition-based maintenance to reduce unplanned reactive work and lower energy costs with a machine learning solution that continuously studies a building’s energy consumption patterns and automatically adjusts to optimal energy saving settings without compromising occupant comfort levels.

The project will include the delivery of an all-electric energy solution to minimise costs and emissions and support Victoria’s progress to net zero by 2050.

When completed, the new facility will use significantly less energy than comparable hospitals and will avoid costly and disruptive conversions later in its lifetime.

As part of the redevelopment, Honeywell will expand on its existing technology platform installed on the Frankston campus by incorporating the latest innovations in building technology, security, life safety and energy management. This will allow Peninsula Health to deploy a flexible and scalable technology platform campus wide capable of supporting its evolving Model of Care with the same level of operational efficiency, seamless connectivity and redundancy delivered on day one with minimal disruption.

Honeywell will maintain and manage the Frankston facility and its building management system to meet Ecologically Sustainable Development (ESD) principles, when applicable and maintain the NABERS rating to reduce peak energy demand, energy consumption and water consumption costs.

The redevelopment includes the construction of a multi-level tower that will deliver a new main entrance, a multi-storey car park, 130 additional beds, new operating theatres and new maternity, obstetrics and paediatric wards as well as greater mental health services.

The hospital is being delivered as a public-private partnership, with Peninsula Health as the public operator of all clinical services and Exemplar Health consortium contracted by the Victorian Government to finance, design, construct and maintain the redevelopment for 25 years following construction completion.

The Exemplar Health consortium comprises Capella Capital as infrastructure developer, financial advisor and equity investor; Lendlease as design and construction partner; Honeywell and Compass Group as facilities services providers; and Aware Super as co-investor. The design solution was led by Bates Smart, Congrad Gargett, WSP and Waterman AHW
