ABC Refinery Pioneers Gold Bullion Authentication As The First Adopter Of New ProvCheck App

ABC Refinery, a Pallion company, has announced its adoption of the ProvCheck app, allowing customers to authenticate the provenance of its ABC Bullion gold bars.

Currently compatible with numbered 1kg ABC Bullion gold bars, the app enables customers to scan their bars and unlock the mine-to-market history of the product, including the gold’s origin and attributable carbon emissions.

With ProvCheck, miners, refiners and purchasers of bullion products can gain clear oversight into the origins of their precious metal investments, ensuring the authenticity of products and that environmental, social and governance (ESG) compliance has been met.

For miners, gold in the form of doré can be registered and tracked through ProvCheck; refiners such as ABC Refinery can authenticate the doré and update information on receipt and processing directly within the app, creating new entries as bullion is produced; and consumers can view the metal’s complete documented history from the convenience of their smartphones.

ProvCheck also detects tampering and fraudulent bullion – a significant safeguard for all stakeholders.

ProvCheck, developed in Australia by Blockhead Technologies, helps miners and refiners meet London Bullion Market Association (LBMA) Good Delivery Standards and Responsible Sourcing Program requirements.

LBMA accreditation is granted only to companies that meet stringent assaying and bar quality criteria, along with responsible gold and net tangible asset requirements. It is awarded exclusively to refineries whose gold and silver bars have been tested and approved for the London bullion market.

ABC Refinery is Australia’s only independent LBMA-accredited gold refiner, and its status as a first adopter of ProvCheck further reinforces both ABC Refinery and ABC Bullion’s commitment to strengthening Pallion’s position as a world-class precious metals conglomerate.

Andrew Cochineas, CEO of Pallion, highlighted ABC Refinery’s pioneering role as the first adopter of ProvCheck that reinforces its pledge to transparency and innovation in gold refining.

“ABC Refinery’s adoption of ProvCheck strengthens trust in the provenance of 1kg ABC Bullion gold bars, offering customers deeper insight into their origin and sustainability credentials,” Cochineas said.

“As an LBMA-accredited refiner, ABC Refinery has met the rigorous criteria for inclusion on the LBMA Good Delivery List. Achieving and maintaining this status requires demonstrating ownership structure, production capacity and financial standing, alongside passing exhaustive technical testing,”

“ProvCheck now makes this information easily accessible to buyers and traders of 1kg ABC Bullion gold bars via their mobile device. It enables them to review the carbon footprint and offset any carbon emissions attributed to their products directly within the ProvCheck app.” he said.

Accessible through the ProvCheck app, the detailed supply chain history of each unique ABC Bullion 1kg gold bar outlines the carbon emissions attributable to its production – from mining and refining to logistics.

Supported by the Australian Carbon Credit Unit (ACCU) scheme, buyers can purchase carbon credits to offset these emissions directly within the app, further reducing the environmental impact of the products.

Ben Kirkwood, ESG Lead at Pallion, has worked with Blockhead Technologies to ensure the real-time transparency of the company’s supply chain.

“ProvCheck represents a significant step forward for the precious metals industry, providing a seamless way for investors and buyers to verify the sustainability credentials of their gold,” Kirkwood said.

“By enabling customers to trace the provenance of 1kg ABC Bullion gold bars and offset carbon emissions in just a few clicks, the ProvCheck app aligns with the growing demand for responsible sourcing and carbon-conscious investment in Australia and abroad.” he said.

ProvCheck can be downloaded from the Apple App Store and Google Play. For mining companies, the doré system is ready for gold room installation.
