Energy and Resources Minister Lily D’Ambrosio has revealed that Victoria has exceeded its 2025 renewable energy target.
Ms D’Ambrosio said renewables accounted for 44.6% of the state’s electricity generation last year, above the legislated target of 40%
The state government says the milestone highlights Victoria’s progress toward a cleaner and more affordable energy system, noting the state remains on track to reach 65% renewable generation by 2030 and 95% by 2035.
Victoria is also positioned as a national leader in grid-scale renewable development, with nearly 100 large-scale projects now operational across the state.
This includes 54 solar farms which, together with rooftop solar, supplied approximately 16 per cent of Victoria’s electricity in 2025.
Wind farms generated around 24% of Victoria’s electricity, with capacity set to grow through 10 newly approved onshore projects and further development planned for the state’s emerging offshore wind sector.
