eHealth NSW has appointed Richard Taggart as its permanent Chief Executive and Chief Information Officer for NSW Health, bringing with him over 20 years of experience in ICT and a strong background in clinical pharmacy.

Taggart previously served as Chief Information Officer for Sydney Local Health District (2019 – 2023), leading the Digital Health and Innovation team and overseeing major initiatives including the NSW Health Vaccination Centre systems and the RPA Virtual Hospital.

As a transformative leader in digital health, Richard has demonstrated a proven track record of success across both public and private healthcare organizations, making significant contributions to the sector.

Richard says he is excited to bring his extensive experience to eHealth NSW and lead it through its next chapter.

“eHealth NSW has an incredible track record of innovation and service delivery and I have no doubt this legacy will continue.”

“Over the next few months, my focus will be on meeting the incredible people at eHealth NSW and across the system and getting to know the business in more detail to be better able to set its future direction.”

“I am looking forward to leading this organisation as we continue our journey towards a digitally enabled health system that meets the needs of staff and the people of NSW.”

“I’d like to thank everyone for the warm welcome this week as I settle into this exciting role,” he said.

Richard began his role on 20 January 2025, after previously serving as the National Director of Digital Health at Calvary Health Care, where he led significant initiatives in digital transformation and healthcare innovation.
