Australian health technology company Lenexa Medical has been recognised for the second consecutive year in TIME magazine’s World’s Top HealthTech Companies list, alongside companies advancing innovation across global healthcare.

The recognition comes as Lenexa continues to expand LenexaCARE®, its sensor-based technology designed to support clinical teams in preventing pressure injuries and reducing falls risk across hospitals and aged care environments.

LenexaCARE® incorporates a fabric-based sensing layer into a mattress, providing continuous information about a person’s presence, movement and position. This gives care teams greater visibility between routine observations and supports earlier, more informed intervention.

Originally developed to support pressure injury prevention, Lenexa has now extended the platform to incorporate bed-exit monitoring to support falls-prevention care, giving care teams visibility of both pressure injury and falls risk through a single sensing platform.

Lenexa Medical CEO and co-founder Ajit Ravindran said the second consecutive TIME recognition reflected both the progress of the technology and the people using it in everyday care.

“Being recognised by TIME for a second consecutive year is an important milestone for our team, but what matters most is seeing the technology being used by nurses and carers to help identify risk earlier and support better care.”

“We developed LenexaCARE to give clinical teams better visibility into what happens between observations. We are now building on that foundation to address another major challenge for health and aged care providers – falls prevention.”

LenexaCARE® has now been deployed in Australia and internationally, with healthcare facilities using the technology as part of their pressure injury prevention programs.

The company says LenexaCARE has helped facilities achieve zero pressure injuries among at-risk residents as part of their prevention programs.

Pressure injuries and falls remain significant challenges for hospitals and aged care providers. Traditional prevention approaches rely heavily on clinical risk assessment, regular observations and repositioning protocols.

LenexaCARE is designed to complement these practices by providing continuous information that is difficult to capture through intermittent observation alone.

Lenexa Medical co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer Will Yang said the technology was designed to give care teams information that they previously had limited visibility over.

“There is a significant amount happening between routine clinical observations that traditionally hasn’t been visible to care teams.”

“By continuously sensing presence, position and movement, LenexaCARE can provide additional information to help clinicians and carers identify changes earlier and make more informed decisions about intervention.”

The TIME recognition also comes as healthcare and aged care providers face increasing pressure to adopt technology that can support care quality, workforce efficiency and improved outcomes.

Ajit said Lenexa’s next phase would focus on expanding the technology’s impact across both pressure injury and falls prevention.

“Our vision is to transform the bed from something passive into a source of real-time care intelligence. Pressure injury prevention was the starting point.”

“As we expand into falls prevention and other areas of patient monitoring, we believe the same platform can help care teams intervene earlier and ultimately prevent more avoidable harm.”
