With more organisations adopting a cloud-first strategy—73% of all new data is projected to reside in the cloud—the need for robust cyber resilience has become paramount.

Commvault’s new integration with AWS provides companies with state-of-the-art tools to automate data protection and simplify the complex task of rebuilding cloud environments after an attack.

Key Offerings on AWS Include:

Cloud Rewind: A cloud-native time machine that enables quick data restoration from the latest clean backup and automates cloud infrastructure rebuilding, reducing recovery times from days to minutes.

Cyber Resilience for Amazon S3: Enhanced recovery capabilities for S3 users through Clumio’s technology, allowing rapid restoration of large AI and ML datasets after cyberattacks.

Air Gap Protect: Creates isolated, immutable data copies as a final defense against attacks, improving recovery capabilities for AWS customers.

Cleanroom Recovery: Provides a secure, isolated environment for system restoration and forensic investigations post-attack, while allowing routine testing of recovery strategies.

Revolutionising Cloud Recovery with Cloud Rewind

One of the standout innovations Commvault brings to AWS is Cloud Rewind, which is designed to address the challenges of cloud recovery.

When businesses face a cyberattack, restoring data is only half the battle—the bigger challenge often lies in restoring the distributed cloud applications that power day-to-day operations.

An enterprise may rely on hundreds of applications spread across its cloud infrastructure, which can take days or even weeks to rebuild manually.

Cloud Rewind automates this entire process, restoring both data and cloud infrastructure configurations in a fraction of the time. This highly automated solution can bring businesses back online within minutes, acting as a powerful “cloud time machine.”

Addressing Regulatory Compliance with Pure Storage

In a separate development, Commvault has partnered with Pure Storage to address growing regulatory demands, particularly with the European Union’s upcoming Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA).

DORA, which comes into force in January 2025, mandates that financial institutions not only prepare for unexpected disruptions but also have the ability to recover quickly.

The Commvault-Pure Storage solution delivers a comprehensive framework for data protection, detection, and recovery:

  • Protection: Built on zero-trust principles, the solution employs encryption, multi-layered immutability, and Pure SafeMode™ Snapshots to secure backup data.
  • Detection: Commvault’s AI-driven anomaly detection and cyber deception technology provide early warning of potential threats, helping organizations respond proactively.
  • Response and Recovery: The solution integrates with Pure Storage’s SafeMode Snapshots, ensuring rapid recovery of critical systems, which is vital for meeting stringent regulatory recovery time objectives.

Expanding Partnerships: Commvault and Google Cloud

Commvault continues to strengthen its cloud ecosystem with the upcoming release of Commvault® Cloud Backup & Recovery for Google Workspace.

Expected by the end of the year, this solution will provide enterprise-grade protection for Gmail, Google Drive, and Shared Drives, offering Google Cloud customers comprehensive data protection across both SaaS and hybrid environments.

This expanded partnership with Google Cloud highlights Commvault’s commitment to providing flexible, scalable, and secure cloud solutions that help businesses safeguard critical data in today’s evolving cloud landscape.

The Business Case for Cyber Resilience

With cyberattacks becoming more sophisticated and frequent, businesses are under increasing pressure to ensure their data and cloud infrastructure can withstand and recover from disruptions.

Commvault’s new solutions, backed by powerful partnerships with AWS, Pure Storage, and Google Cloud, offer a comprehensive approach to cyber resilience—ensuring businesses not only protect their data but also recover faster and more efficiently when the worst happens.

These advancements position Commvault as a crucial partner for organisations navigating the complexities of today’s hybrid cloud environment, where the ability to bounce back from cyber threats is just as important as preventing them.
