Telstra have announced improvements to its specialist Security Operations Centres that will provide end-to-end security services for Federal, State, and Local government customers.

Telstra has upgraded its Canberra, Sydney, and Melbourne security operations centres to the ISM PROTECTED level, which is required by many federal, state, and local government agencies.

The telco’s 24/7 ISM PROTECTED security capability is delivered by Telstra’s team of Australian government security cleared cyber experts.

Telstra Enterprise Group Owner of Defence and Public Sector, John Ieraci says telstra has a significant function to play in preserving Australia and protecting government data against cyberattacks in today’s digital world.

“We know that public services face a complex cybersecurity landscape, alongside an elevated duty of care and responsibility for compliance.”

“By helping safeguard users and applications, along with 24/7 cyber monitoring and response by our specialist security team, we’re helping government organisations to digitise and deliver critical, secure citizen services.”

“In addition to these new solutions designed with government in mind, Telstra continues to strengthen security in the network.” says Ieraci.

Telstra’s sovereign security capabilities will be delivered to Australian Federal, State, and Local Government customers, as well as to critical infrastructure organisations that require higher levels of on-premises and cloud infrastructure, data, and application security.

Telstra’s security solutions, now enhanced for government, include:

  • Cyber Detection and Response
  • Sovereign SecureEdge

Telstra’s Cyber Detection and Response solution integrates with Government systems, endpoints, and cloud services to help monitor the expansive world of cyber threats using big data analytics.

Recent enhancements have been made to the system to improve real-time threat detection by leveraging advanced machine learning which helps government agencies detect suspicious activity.

Sovereign SecureEdge is a sophisticated secure gateway feature that defends against malware, ransomware, and zero-day dangers. It uses Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) technology to protect Federal, State, and local government customers andprovides a broader selection of protection options.

According to Ieraci visibility of threats across one of the largest and most complex networks in Australia, Telstra is uniquely positioned to help act on and mitigate cyber risks in real time.

Telstra has been protecting Federal government agencies for over a decade with its established gateway service, which has been upgraded to safeguard users and applications from malware, ransomware, and zero-day dangers.
