Telstra is strengthening its support of Australian gamers with the launch of a new partnership with Fortress, bringing the ultimate video games venue to Sydney on April 1.

The partnership marks a significant milestone for Fortress as it prepares to open the doors on a second venue in Sydney, after the successful launch of Fortress Melbourne in 2020.

Supported by Telstra’s high speed fixed network, Fortress Sydney is a multi-level entertainment venue devoted to games, with everything from board games and role-playing, to arcade, PC and console.

As part of the agreement, a new Telstra Lounge will be available in both Sydney and Melbourne venues, which will offer customers access to the latest games technology and state-of-the-art equipment.

Speaking on the partnership, Genelle Sharples, Principal – Media, Sponsorship, Awards & Experiential said: “Aussies’ love for gaming continues to grow and we know how important a reliable, fast connection is to a great gaming experience – wherever you are.

“We’ve got you covered at home and on the go with our gaming products and 5G network, and we’re excited to be partnering with Fortress to bring the ultimate gaming venue to Sydney and we look forward to welcoming gaming enthusiasts from around the country to enjoy what the venue has to offer.”

Fortress COO, Mads Brown, added, “We’re excited to announce Telstra as a Major Partner of Fortress to help us in our mission of bringing the future of entertainment to Australia. Speed and reliability are critical to Fortress to provide the games, live streaming and broadcast experiences that our customers expect, and there is no service besides Telstra’s we trust to deliver on this promise.”

Fortress Sydney will be located within Central Park Mall, the inner-city suburb of Chippendale. Operating 7 days a week, Fortress brings a dynamic offering to gamers and pop-culture fans from weekly events (like Tavern Trivia and Dungeons & Flagons), to online and in-venue tournaments (for both casual and experienced players). With a mission to ignite the spirit of games, Fortress is a true home for all gamers.

The new 1,000+ capacity venue includes a 400 sq/m, 192-seat live esports arena, 80+ premium gaming PCs, 250 sq/m arcade, two licensed and originally-themed bars, private party spaces, a full-service Tavern restaurant holding specially created VIP video game booths and designated board game / tabletop areas, merchandise store, dedicated streamer pods, and a live broadcast production facility
