Melbourne-based SEO and digital marketing agency SIXGUN has funded 3,440 trees and avoided 672 tonnes of CO2e through a multi-year climate commitment with B Corp-certified platform Ecologi.
Ecologi is a UK-based, B Corp-certified climate action platform that funds verified carbon avoidance, tree planting and nature restoration on behalf of its members.
The platform vets the schemes it backs through an independent climate committee and channels members’ contributions into them on their behalf.
A Climate Positive Workforce
SIXGUN’s approach is built around its team. The agency funds trees and offsets carbon emissions for every employee, tying its climate contribution to headcount rather than treating it as a marketing exercise.
The business, which provides SEO and digital marketing services to Australian companies, describes itself on the platform as “serious about social impact”.
Because the contribution is calculated per employee, it grows as the agency hires, building climate action into the cost of every role rather than a fixed annual donation.
SIXGUN, founded in 2017, has applied a similar long-term lens to its client work, favouring sustainable results over short-term wins.
The badges on its Ecologi profile mark milestones along the way, including its first 1,000 trees and three years of continuous climate action.
Funding Projects Worldwide
SIXGUN’s funding flows to certified climate projects across multiple continents. These range from forest protection, including the Matavén forest in eastern Colombia and Amazon conservation in Brazil, to renewable energy such as wind farms in Mexico and Thailand and solar generation in Morocco and Egypt.
Other projects avoid methane emissions at landfill sites in Brazil and support communities directly, among them fuel-efficient cookstoves in Uganda and water-borehole repairs in Eritrea.
That spread reflects how platforms like Ecologi pool contributions across reforestation, renewable energy, methane avoidance and community programs, rather than backing a single cause.
In total, SIXGUN’s funding supports more than a dozen certified projects, the largest of which – the protection of the Matavén forest in eastern Colombia – accounts for close to 200 tonnes of the CO2e avoided.
“Sustainability has to be built into how a business runs, not bolted on for a campaign,” said David Pagotto, Founder of SIXGUN.
“Funding climate action for every member of our team is a long-term commitment, and it compounds the same way good marketing does.” he said.
The commitment is ongoing, and SIXGUN plans to keep building on the total. At 672.26 tonnes of CO2e avoided, the agency’s contribution to date is roughly equivalent to 516 long-haul flights, or more than 1.7 million miles driven in a car.
