Backlink scammer attempts to destroy business reputation

Website owners are receiving emails threatening to ruin their reputation if they do not post a five-star reviews and create internet hyperlinks AKA “backlinks” for other websites.

Receive emails from an individual claiming to work for Bizcope, a professional and reputable digital marketing agency demanding backlinks or a five-star review, then they’re trying to scam businesses.

Bizcope is not connected to the scam and has been used as a placeholder identity.

The demand is that you provide backlinks and a five-star review otherwise they will harm your website, which is being reported by several webmasters who were threatened unless they complied immediately!

This morning Tech Business News received one of these emails.

Hello Sir!

I working for Bizcope SEO company in Bangladesh. My client needing backlinks urgently. So sir, I requesting that you give me a do follow, permanent backlink on your blog. When you are done, please sending me email to confirming.

Here is my client website: https://uk.naturecan.com/products/naturecan-10mg-cbd-gummies

Plz also creating a 5 star GMB and Trust Pilot reviewings too.

If I do not seeing a backlink in one week, I am create million toxic blog comment spam and redirect backlink to techbusinessnews.com.au and you can saying goodbye to your Google rankings for 1 year or more.

I trust you making correct decision Sir. I giving you 7 days. If I getting link from you, I will also add a back-link to techbusinessnews.com.au on https://herbalhealthcbd.co.uk/product-category/cbd-gummies/

Best wishes from sunny Bangladesh

Address: 89/7 Gopibag Biswa Road, Nadian Tower, Level 3 Dhaka, 1203, Bangladesh

Seen on the Bizscope blogs the digital marketing company are aware of the issue and made a statement.

“We would like to inform you that Bizcope has no connection with this guy and we are not responsible for those emails you receive”

“Please don’t consider any email as our official message if it is not sent from the domain name Bizcope such as “*@bizcope.com”.

“One of our team members has also shared his concern on “Google Search Help“.

“He has taken our brand name to hide himself or to damage our reputation”

“We hope you’ll understand that these emails have no connection with us, and as such we cannot be held liable in any way whatsoever!”

A spokesperson from naturecan.com said, it appears the message you received is part of a wider attempt by someone with a grievance against Bizcope to damage their reputation, and Naturecan along with many other CBD businesses, have been dragged into it despite having no connection to Bizcope.”

Search engine optimisation (SEO) is what determines a website’s ranking when searched online. For example, when someone types in great children’s books, SEO will utilise information it has gathered to rank the best matches. Backlinks are a part of this formula. You want your website to have backlinks from similar sites with good ratings. If you have backlinks to unrelated sites or sites that have bad ratings due to spam or poorly rated topics, your results rank can drastically decrease.

The scam threatens to create and point over a 1 million toxic spam backlinks to target websites.

None of the websites targeted in this scam have been effected by the threats.

In June 2019, a different extortion scam targeting web site owners was making the rounds. In that campaign, the scammers threatened to ruin a site’s reputation unless they paid $2,400 in bitcoin.
