Cloudflare customers in Australia, India, and Japan can now service traffic locally while benefiting from Cloudflare’s leading performance and security features for the first time

Cloudflare, a security, performance, and reliability company improving the web, said that its Data Localisation Suite (DLS) is now available in three new countries in the Asia Pacific region including Australia, India, and Japan.

Cloudflare’s Data Localisation Suite will assist organisations in meeting data localisation requirements by regulating where their domestic data goes and who can access it.

By using Cloudflare, businesses in these countries may deliver their data locally while enjoying the benefits of Cloudflare’s global network’s speed, security, and scalability.

A large proportion of Asia’s countries have either enacted or are in the process of enacting new data protection and privacy legislation. Because of this, many countries in Asia are reluctant to rely on foreign businesses to handle domestic traffic, many businesses must use only in-country businesses or may be required to restrict their application to a single data centre or cloud provider’s region.

To ensure compliance and rapid, safe user experiences, businesses of all sizes can now use Cloudflare’s Data Localisation Suite to locate their data in a variety of places.

Cofounder and CEO, Cloudflare Matthew Prince says no business should have to choose between compliance with local data regulation and a superior experience for their customers. And yet, we hear time and again that companies are forced to do so in the face of a complex and ever-changing landscape of regional legislation.”

“Our Data Localisation Suite has now been expanded to customers in Australia, India, and Japan, ensuring that data locality doesn’t come at the expense of the speed, security, and privacy users expect and deserve when surfing the web.” says Prince.

Businesses in Australia, India, and Japan using Cloudflare’s Data Localisation Suite can now:

• Control where traffic is serviced: Companies can choose the data centre locations where their traffic is inspected. Businesses can also use Cloudflare’s Geo Key Manager to choose where private keys are held.

• Build and deploy serverless code, with regional control: Build applications that allow developers to combine global performance with local compliance regulations. Jurisdiction Restrictions for Workers Durable Objects makes it easy to build serverless applications that are confined to a specific region.

• Use Cloudflare’s security features to protect their web properties: Customers can use WAF, Bot Management, DDoS protection and more to ensure their websites are safe and stay online.

• Align with global and regional security certifications: Businesses can trust that they are compliant with global privacy and security certifications like ISO 27001, 27701, and 27018 while still offering performance and speed at scale.

Jonathon Dixon, VP and Managing Director, Asia Pacific, Japan, and China, Cloudflare says Cloudflare’s mission is to help build a better Internet, and privacy and data protection have grown in importance in Asia Pacific, where over 50 percent of the world’s Internet users reside.

“End-user privacy is crucial to Cloudflare’s mission of helping to create a better web, and we look forward to collaborating with organisations in Australia, India, and Japan to enable them to provide fast, private, reliable, and secure services to their customers.” says Dixon.

Cloudflare currently has over 100 points of presence in Asia Pacific to ensure security, performance, and reliability for its customers in the region. Cloudflare operates in over 275 cities in over 100 countries, including Beijing, Singapore, Sydney, and Tokyo.

The company also has offices in Bhubaneshwar, India; Fukuoka, Japan; Kanpur, India; and Naha, Japan.

In March, Cloudflare added 18 new cities to its global network, including Bhubaneshwar, India; Fukuoka, Japan; Kanpur, India; and Naha, Japan.
