Two Aussie household names are working together to make the car-buying journey easier. carsales and Westpac have introduced a new referral pathway that brings Westpac-provided finance closer to where buyers are already searching for their next vehicle.

Finding the right car is only half the journey. Working out how to pay for it is the other. To help make this process easier, customers browsing private listings on carsales.com.au and RedBook can now easily access finance from Westpac.

Buyers browsing private listings will see finance provided by Westpac, including an indicative weekly repayment and comparison rate, and can choose to continue to Westpac to explore their finance options further.

The initiative is part of carsales’ ongoing push to make buying easier for everyone. Building on innovations such as carsales’ payment solution, which has facilitated more than $420 million in secure transactions, and finance solutions already available across dealer listings.

It represents another step towards bringing together the information, tools and services customers need for a more connected car-buying experience.

Craig Fraser, carsales Managing Director, said, “At carsales, everything we do comes back to helping buyers find the right car with more confidence,”

“Finance is a big part of that decision, and this new pathway brings it into the private car-buying journey rather than leaving it as a separate step. It’s a natural extension of our work to support customers across every stage of the buying journey, whether they’re exploring private or dealer listings,” said Fraser

“carsales and Westpac share a genuine ambition to make life easier for consumers. By combining our strengths, we can help take some of the stress out of one of life’s bigger purchase decisions and create a more seamless experience for buyers.” he said.

“Carolyn McCann, Westpac Chief Executive of Consumer, said, “Buying a car is more than a transaction, it’s an important life moment and people want the process to feel simple.

“We’re pleased to work with carsales to make it easier for people to access finance earlier in the journey, helping them feel more informed and confident as they take the next step.”

The partnership between carsales and Westpac highlights the growing shift towards more integrated digital experiences across the automotive sector.

By bringing finance options closer to the vehicle search process, the collaboration aims to reduce complexity for buyers and create a more seamless pathway from researching a vehicle to securing finance.

Australian new-car sales reached 103,656 deliveries in July 2026, representing a modest 0.5 per cent increase compared with the same period a year earlier.

SUVs continued to dominate the market, accounting for 65.3 per cent of sales, while electric and electrified vehicles maintained strong momentum with a combined 21.7 per cent market share.
