The mission delivery plan is in line with the Victorian government’s $50 million cyber security strategy launched in 2021 which aims to address the increasing threat of cyber-attacks and build a resilient cyber security posture across the state.

Last week, the state government introduced a plan to focus on decreasing the likelihood of cyber security attacks against government systems and services.

The government released the mission delivery plan as well as a progress report on work implementing the cyber security strategy to date.

The objective of the plan is to develop a pipeline of cyber experts for both the private sector and the Victorian Public Service (VPS), forming a collaboration between educational institutions and businesses to create more cyber career opportunities.

The plan also includes developing a reliable and dependable source of information to provide guidance to the public on cyber risk management and prevention techniques and to strengthen Victoria’s readiness for cyber security crises and other major cyber incidents to lessen the potential harmful effects on the community.

The cyber hubs model will look to improve cyber governance, technology, resource management and interoperability, supported by a central Victorian government cyber defence centre.

Additionally, the mission plan also outlines that Victoria Police will be given assistance to create a better cybercrime capacity tohelp them to recognise, discover, examine, obstruct, and deter cybercrime in Victoria.
