Barker will play a crucial part in shaping Telstra Purple’s security sales strategy. He will work closely with Telstra’s enterprise, government, and business clients to fortify their cybersecurity defenses against the ever-evolving landscape of cyber threats.

Barket joins the Telstra team from BT, where he spent almost a decade in a variety of key security-focused roles, including leading BT Security across Asia Pacific and Japan, and Middle East and Africa, and previously the Australia and New Zealand region. Before BT he held several security sales roles at Fortinet and IBM.

Before that, he had held various roles in security sales with Fortinet and IBM, further solidifying his expertise in the cybersecurity domain.

Head of Telstra Purple Oliver Camplin-Warner said after an extensive search, he was thrilled to welcome Luke into the talented Telstra Purple fold.

“With Luke at the helm, our new Security Practice is set to make an enormous difference to our business and government customers, bringing together the depth and breadth of our cyber experts, Telstra’s exceptional ecosystem of technology partnerships – and of course our secure networks and technology,”

“We want to partner with Australian organisations to let them innovate with confidence, while we help protect their data, operations and reputation with integrated, multi-layered end-to-end security,” Oliver said.

Telstra Purple is dedicated to empowering Australian organizations to pursue innovation with assurance, all while safeguarding their data, operations, and reputation. Its commitment is upheld through a comprehensive suite of integrated, multi-layered end-to-end security solutions.

The announcement comes on the heels of Telstra’s recent technology partnership with Palo Alto Networks, geared towards providing an array of advanced cybersecurity solutions to their enterprise client’s.
