Suncorp and Microsoft continue to develop its relationship after announcing a new three-year cloud agreement to accelerate the finaincal services provider. Suncorp group will also grow its Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure while deploying more than 13,600 Surface devices across Australia and New Zealand

Suncorp will be broadening its use of Microsoft Azure’s cloud service, while gradually ceasing to operate their in-house data centres as part of their multi-cloud strategy,

The goal is to shift 90% of their workloads to the cloud by the close of 2023 while other applications will be migrated to new facilities in Sydney, with the eventual intention of completely exiting their existing data centres by January 2024.

Suncorp Group (ASX: SUN) has been in existence for over a century and has been dedicated to building a better future and preserving what is important.

The company provides insurance, banking and asset management services under several well-known financial brands in both Australia and New Zealand.

Executive General Manager of IT Infrastructure at Suncorp Group, Charles Pizzato, says Suncorp is a purpose-driven organisation that has embraced cloud computing.

“It’s modernised its technology platforms, to lead the insurance sector in delivering innovative customer experiences, at lower cost and lower risk to the business,”

“The Microsoft Azure platform gives us that flexibility and scalability, along with the underlying security posture we need as a financial services organisation and we are always looking for opportunities to leverage cloud infrastructure to be more agile and responsive to market needs.”

“Suncorp’s cloud journey started in 2013 and today 65% of our applications are in the cloud. We have chosen to partner with Microsoft to enable us to achieve our strategic transformation goals and innovation agenda.” says Pizzato

Suncorp has rolled out 10,000 Microsoft Surface Laptops to personnel in both Australia and New Zealand, and will deploy an extra 3,600 during the upcoming twelve months.

Microsoft’s modern device management will grant Suncorp employees with a smooth, safe, and dependable experience no matter where they are working from.

This will also help with the finanical service providers disaster response teams in order to better support customers during major natural disasters and weather events.

According to Pizzato it’s crucial the company equips its team with the technology they need to work effectively wherever they are – in the office, at home or out in the community.

“This is so they can quickly adapt as operating conditions change and continue to deliver a fantastic experience for our customers, he said.

General Manager Financial Services Industry at Microsoft Australia and New Zealand Duncan Taylor, says “We’re excited to play an even greater role in Suncorp’s cloud strategy and workplace evolution as the next step in our longstanding partnership.”

Suncorp also rolled out 150 Surface Hubs to its brand-new headquarters in Brisbane, as well as its offices in Australia and New Zealand.

These devices are intended to create collaborative hybrid meeting environments which will promote inclusiveness and the sharing of ideas.

Additionally, the devicies will bolster Suncorp’s disaster response teams to provide better aid to customers during natural calamities and extreme weather.
