New Relic, Inc. (NYSE: NEWR), the all-in-one observability platform for every engineer, announced the expanded remit of Jason Leonidas to vice president for the South Pacific region.

Comprising Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) regions, Leonidas brings more than 25 years of experience in the technology industry to the newly created position, six years of which have been at New Relic as Regional Sales Director, ANZ, and more recently as, Regional Vice President, ANZ.

In his expanded position, Leonidas will be responsible for driving market growth, customer success, and ensuring strategic direction. Leonidas will continue to report to Kris Day, Senior Vice President of Asia Pacific and Japan at New Relic.

“The formation of the South Pacific Region represents a significant strategic pillar for the New Relic business in Asia-Pacific moving forward, and brings together the maturity of our ANZ business and the high growth potential of our vibrant ASEAN market,” said Day.

“This expansion of responsibility is a testament to Jason’s invaluable contributions to New Relic, and we are thrilled that he will lead this team into its next phase of growth.”

A technologist at heart, Leonidas started his career as a developer, moving across to pre-sales engineering and solutions architect roles, before pursuing a successful career in sales. Prior to New Relic, Leonidas held senior positions at Oracle and Actian Corporation.

New Relic is continuing to see strong growth in the region, mirroring findings from the 2023 New Relic Observability Forecast which highlighted that observability adoption is high and increasing across the ANZ and ASEAN markets.

Respondents in ASEAN and ANZ said that observability was seen as an enabler of business and/or revenue growth, increased operational efficiency, security vulnerability management, and improved system uptime and reliability.

Furthermore, advocacy among ANZ C-level executives was high with 74% of the more technically-focused executives and 73% of less technically-focused executives seen as advocates of observability.

This trend was also observed in ASEAN, with 82% of more technically focused and 74% of less technically focused C-level executives advocating for observability.

“The business benefits of observability are clear. With IT spending projected to grow by 4.4% in 2023 in the face of challenging market conditions, now is the time for businesses across the region to arm their engineers with observability so they can build exceptional products and experiences for their customers and end users,” said Leonidas.

“I’m thrilled to lead the newly formed South Pacific region for New Relic, and look forward to helping customers here realise the many benefits that the New Relic all-in-one observability platform was built for,” he said

Leonidas’ expanded role follows the announcement of recent product innovations for the company including AI Recommended Alerts, Interactive Application Security Testing and New Relic Grok, the world’s first Generative AI assistant for observability.
