The gaming market in India is expected to grow from $2.8 billion in 2022 to $5 billion in 2025, growing at a compound annual growth rate of 28-30%. The number of gamers in the nation has grown from 420 million in 2022 to 450 million by 2023, and it is likely to hit 500 million by 2025.

In recent years, the nation has observed a sharp rise in the number of internet users, and the presence of budget-friendly data plans has made it simpler for individuals to get online and engage in online games, resulting in an increase in the amount of gaming platforms in the country

Recently, the online gaming industry has experienced a massive surge due to the proliferation of online gamers in the nation and the rise in the demand of online players.

Furthermore, the incorporation of immersive technologies such as AR and VR has been a driving factor in the expansion of the online gaming industry in India.

In the wake of rumors that Amazon was intending to introduce Prime Gaming to India, the online shopping giant has now quietly debuted the subscription service in the country.

By subscribing to Amazon Prime, gamers will be able to access a range of video games on mobile, PC, and Mac devices. Additionally, subscribers will have the opportunity to acquire in-game bonuses, such as weapons, characters, skins, boosts, and upgrades.

While Prime Gaming has been rolled out for Android users, the service will be available for iOS consumers beginning January 2023.

The website provides details indicating that the service currently has a selection of games available, including Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0, FIFA 23, League of Legends, DeathLoop, and more.

Director of Amazon India’s Prime and delivery experience Akshay Sahi said,“ With the rebranded launch of Prime Gaming, we continue to make Amazon Prime more valuable for members in India”

“Gaming has become widely popular, and we recognise the need to provide a robust selection of games and content to enhance playing experience of our Prime members.”

“The new and refreshed Prime Gaming, comes with a great accessibility to the latest games and we will continue to add new in-game content for other popular games, with frequent content refreshes,” said Sahi

Prime members in India have the opportunity to access the gaming service, which requires an annual fee of approximately INR 1,499.

In the fiscal year 2022, India became the largest consumer of mobile games in terms of total downloads. At present, India’s market is triple the size of the US and nearly two and a half times bigger than China.

From 2020 to present, the total amount of game downloads increased from 6.5 billion to 15 billion and in 2022, India had the largest portion of game downloads (17%) worldwide.
