Commvault Earns IRAP Certification – Australia’s Infosec Registered Assessor Program

Commvault has announced that its portfolio of SaaS-delivered data protection solutions has achieved Australia’s Infosec Registered Assessor Program (IRAP) certification at PROTECTED level. The IRAP assessment is also associated with the security legislation amendment (Critical Infrastructure) bill, which was presented to parliament in 2020.

Commvault announced it has achieved the IRAP certification at the PROTECTED level for its suite of SaaS-based data protection solutions in Australia.

Administered by the Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC), the IRAP program ensures that technology providers adhere to the highest security and integrity standards in accordance with the Australian government’s information security guidelines.

IRAP serves as a comprehensive framework for assessing a solution’s security posture and resilience against advanced threats.

Through a thorough examination of software architecture, design, and security protocols, the certification guarantees that Commvault’s SaaS data protection solutions meet the stringent security requirements outlined in the Information Security Manual (ISM).

The certification also instills confidence among government agencies and contractors in adopting Commvault’s solutions.

Notably, Commvault remains the only SaaS data protection portfolio to achieve FedRAMP High (In Process) status, with an approved ATO signed by the Department of Treasury on July 12, 2023.

Martin Creighan, Vice President for Asia Pacific at Commvault, emphasised the global significance of the IRAP certification, even though it is an Australian-centric security framework.

He stated that this achievement underscores Australia’s commitment to maintaining top-tier security standards, aligning with frameworks like FedRAMP.

“Commvault’s mission is to provide industry-leading protection against ransomware and the evolving cyber threat landscape,”

“While IRAP is an Australian-centric security framework, this certification underlines the country’s global commitment to upholding best-in-class security standards, resonating with frameworks like FedRAMP,” Creighan said.

“Achieving IRAP certification is a testament to our mission of providing industry-leading protection of data against ransomware and the evolving cyber threat landscape,” he said.

Given the escalating cyber threats, both private and public sector entities face increasing pressure to enhance their data security and cyber recovery measures.

A recent Commvault report, developed in collaboration with IDC, highlights the understanding among IT and business leaders about the constant risk and severe consequences of cyberattacks and indicated that 61% of respondents believe that data loss within the next 12 months is likely or highly likely due to increasingly sophisticated access.

The IRAP assessment in Australia is also linked to the Security Legislation Amendment (Critical Infrastructure) Bill, which was introduced to Parliament in 2020.

The amendment focuses on national security and aims to address risks associated with foreign involvement in Australia’s critical infrastructure, particularly given that a significant portion of the country’s infrastructure is privately owned.

Commvault’s complete range of SaaS-delivered data protection solutions has received IRAP certification and is integrated into its commercial offerings.

The solutions not only offer robust compliance capabilities but also provide peace of mind in terms of swift recovery, a critical aspect in an era of relentless and evolving cyber threats.

Commvault Data Protection Redefined

Earlier this year, Commvault redefined data protection by introducing new early warning technologies that proactively secure against threats, defend enterprise data in the event of a breach, and ensure recoverability.

In an age where threats to business continuity are constantly looming, Commvault continues to lead the way in the realm of data management and recovery.

Businesses place their trust in Commvault’s steadfast dedication to ensuring seamless recovery, allowing them to navigate challenges and sustain uninterrupted operations with confidence.
