Western Health is a major healthcare provider for one of Australia’s rapidly expanding and culturally diverse regions, catering to a population exceeding 900,000 individuals.

Confronted with an array of technical and user-related obstacles, Western Health acknowledged the imperative for a comprehensive overhaul to mitigate risks and enhance user satisfaction.

The current infrastructure was plagued by fragmented processes, inefficient tools, and constraints in storage and computing capabilities.

In alignment with Western Health’s unwavering dedication to delivering top-tier healthcare services and supporting its ongoing growth, the organisation embarked on a transformative journey towards digitalisation and modernisation. At the heart of this endeavor lay the paramount priority of safeguarding patient data and identities.

The initiative involved several critical components, including a rebuild of the Health Service’s Active Directory and setting the foundations for the Modern Workplace and Modern Management programs.

The program also included the ERP (Electronic Resource Planning) and EMR (Electronic Medical Records) rollout, optimising data efficiency and accessibility.

This is being delivered in conjunction with improvements to document management and compliance through the implication of a robust records management solution.

To foster seamless communication and collaboration, Logicalis Australia facilitated the integration of Microsoft 365, empowering Western Health staff to work more efficiently and securely, whether in-office or remote.

In support of Western Health’s growth trajectory, Logicalis Australia also worked on strengthening the health provider’s Microsoft Azure environment, enabling scalability, reliability, and cost-efficiency.

Cameron McBride, Director of Digital Technology Services, Western Health said, “We believe that the Modern Workplace program with Logicalis Australia will transform how we deliver healthcare,”

“By enhancing our technology infrastructure and streamlining processes, we are not only improving efficiency but, more importantly, enhancing the quality of care we provide to our patients, with security top of mind,”

“Additionally, this initiative provides a solid foundation for data analytics and AI, enabling us to harness the power of data to further enhance patient outcomes.” said McBride

Anthony Woodward, CEO, Logicalis Australia said “We are thrilled to collaborate with Western Health on this transformative journey. It is a true demonstration of our health sector expertise coming to the fore,”

“The implementation of the Modern Workplace program aligns perfectly with Western Health’s commitment to excellence in healthcare,”

“We believe that this initiative will not only improve the operational efficiency of the health service, but also empower them to provide even better care to their patients and redefine it.”

Western Health looks forward to the positive outcomes this transformative initiative will bring and remains steadfast in its commitment to delivering exceptional healthcare services.
