The Australian Federal Police (AFP) has set its sights on updating its primary enterprise resource planning platform over the next three years.

The Australian Federal Police (AFP) finds itself at a critical juncture with its enterprise resource planning (ERP) platform, SAP ECC 6.0, as it nears its useful life by October 2027.

The system, which has been instrumental in managing crucial functions like human resources and payroll, is now reaching the end of its lifecycle, prompting the AFP to explore alternatives.

In response, the AFP has initiated a comprehensive year-long “discovery process.” The process aims to identify the necessary upgrades in automation, modernisation, and system integration to transition to an advanced SAP S/4HANA system.

According to an AFP spokesperson AP is the AFP’s core ERP solution and is part of the AFP’s strategic roadmap. It will look to take advantage of a modern platform.

Specifically, the AFP is looking for analysts proficient in ECC.6 to S/4 HANA upgrades, adept in SAP cloud solutions focusing on HR, and experienced with business tools like ARIS, Visio, and SAP Signavio.

The AFP’s decision to replace its core ERP platform reflects a strategic move towards embracing innovation and efficiency. By adopting a modern ERP system, the AFP aims to streamline its processes, enhance data security, and improve overall operational agility.

Considerations such as cost-effectiveness, ease of integration, and vendor support will play pivotal roles in the selection process.
